Planning for international workcamps 2013 gets concrete — Undersecretary Neuendorf opens the commencement congress

ewoca³ partners from 14 countries will transform the DGB convention centre Hattingen (Am Homberg 44-50, 45549 Hattingen) into a world café on Sunday, 3rd of March 2013: They will take a look back at the twelve international youth exchanges realised under the umbrella of ewoca³ — Funding programme for youth work organisations from North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012. Following this, the real work starts: Until Wednesday, 6th of March 2013, they will plan and organise the next twelve workcamps in the summer of 2013. Undersecretary for Families, Children, Youth, Culture and Sport of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia Bernd Neuendorf, Dr. Rana Islam of the Stiftung Mercator and Matthias Tümpel, Chairman of IBB Dortmund will also be present at the commencement.

IBB Dortmund organises support programme on how to address diversity

The preliminary meeting of the workcamp organisers also includes further education and training. In 2013 the support programme, conceived by IBB Dortmund, will focus on the topic of diversity. Workshops will deal with questions regarding the topic of sustainability and present tested methods for a successful dealing with cultural, social and religious diversity in international youth exchanges.

IBB Dortmund realises the second phase of the ewoca³ funding programme with the support of Stiftung Mercator and the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Premier Hannelore Kraft is the official patron of the programme. The commencement congress was financially supported by the European Union through the YOUTH IN ACTION programme. The workcamps are targeted at youths with special needs.

36 youth encounters in 14 countries

ewoca³, the funding programme for youth work organisations, brings together youths from North Rhine-Westphalia and Europe in unique youth encounters.​  During three consecutive summers each partnership will organise three international camps on topics of sustainable development. The participants on the German side are 16 to 27 year-olds from Dortmund, Bochum, Bonn, Bornheim, Bünde, Gütersloh, Hagen, Cologne, Oberhausen and the District of Steinfurt. The twelve youth work organisations from 10 cities in North Rhine-Westphalia have found project partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, France, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus and Cyprus.
