Good news for international youth work: Stiftung Mercatordecided to continue funding the ewoca³ programme for the years 2015 to 2017. Therefore, during this time another 36 European youth encounters can take place, spread out all over the continent. New project partners can apply until the 1st of September.

“Since 2009 we brought many hundred youths in 60 international workcamps together, each of which realised a sustainable project at the location”, says Matthias Tümpel, the chairman of the International Association for Education and Exchange (IBB e.V.) in Dortmund. “I am very happy for us to be able to continue.” In just a few weeks the workcamps of 2014 will start in eight European countries. “The decision of Stiftung Mercator creates further momentum for our project partners even in their work this year”, says ewoca³ project manager Katharina Teiting of IBB e.V.

The concept of the ewoca³ funding programme will stay the same in the new funding phase of 2015-2017: Project partners from three countries realise three international workcamps for youths in three years – one in each country. At the camps they collaboratively implement projects on the topic of “Education for Sustainable Development”. Not only ecological topics are possible, projects on questions regarding the political, economic, social and cultural dimensions of sustainability are also welcome. To realise these projects, the youth work organisations from North Rhine-Westphalia form a three-year partnership with two organisations from other European countries.

Eligible to apply for the ewoca³ programme 2015 to 2017 are: Institutions of youth work of cities, municipalities, churches, independent organisations, associations and environmental organisations from North Rhine-Westphalia, together with two European partners. An information flyer regarding the application procedure is provided here (in German only). The application documents can be downloaded here.
